CD and Tour Publicity

I have been fortunate to have met some amazing people over the past few years. You can be sure that I will work hard to get your CD and/or your tour the press it deserves. With a database of all the national newspapers & magazines, there is no doubt that we can reach your target audience!

Remember that three months' lead time is HIGHLY recommended to give the press a reasonable turn around time. So, please try to contact me three months prior to your CD release! For touring, try to give at least a month's notice. If this isn't possible, then contact me to discuss your options.

Typical PR Package - Total $1,800.00

The typical package includes 3 months press work, along with the initial mailing of the CD to media outlets. The goal is to get reviews and press coverage from genre specific music publications and websites, as well as related newspapers.

This package covers:

Preparing initial press release and submission to national press
Sending press kits to approximately 200 magazines, newspapers & CD reviewers across the United States (International publications can also be included, based on your preferences)
3 months follow up & tracking of press kits with monthly status report

Press kit materials will be provided by the artist or label. The usual press kit includes a one-sheet (bio & photo of CD/artist, etc.), CD, and some sort of promotional item (optional). If you would like assistance in setting up your press kit, then I will be happy to do this with you. For example, if you need help creating or fine tuning your one-sheet, then there is no extra charge for this.

Printing costs for one-sheets, as well as postage costs, will be the responsibility of the artist or label. If you would like for me to take care of printing the one-sheets, then you will be billed for those expenses (at cost). An advance for postage will be required before the CDs will be mailed. International shipping will be extra, based on actual postage, and will be billed separately.

If you would like to send out an EPK (electronic press kit), then it can be sent to those members of the press (via email) who can accept this type of file, and that service is included in this package.

Tour PR Packages - Total ($700/month or $150/press release)

This package is mainly for individuals who have already released their CD, and are now going out on tour. It involves writing press releases to announce tour dates & locations, as well as submitting them to the press. The press releases can be sent to your local press, the regional press (touring areas), and national press. CDs/Press kits can be sent to the press for your tour, but the postage would be a separate charge.

The standard fee for a press release would be $150 per release. This option works well for announcing special gigs or events. A flat monthly fee of $700 can be arranged (NO minimum # of months required), for those with a heavy touring schedule, and will include all required press releases, and/or calendar submissions. Either of these options are available depending on your specific touring needs, and budget.

Electronic Press Kit (EPK), & My Space Services - Total (varies)

To create a Sonicbids EPK for you or your band, it will cost about $100, plus any membership fees for their service. I can also help you create or revamp your My Space site! These fees would be based on how intensive the project becomes. Please talk with me about what you need.

Event PR Services - Total (varies)

If you have an upcoming event you would like to publicize, I’d be happy to help you out, as long as my schedule allows! Recently, I ran the press for the MN Rock & Country Hall of Fame induction show, and am grateful for the pre-event coverage in City Pages, MN Star Tribune, St. Cloud Times, St. Paul Pioneer Press, plus many other regional publications. Ask me for a quote, and I’ll try to accommodate your budget.

Alternative PR Packages - Total (varies)

Our typical PR package can usually be tailored to your specific needs. Rest assured, if I really like your music, and my schedule can accommodate it, then I will help you out!!

European Chart PR Packages - Total (varies)

There are two main charts in the European music scene for Americana/Country/Texas artists: The Euro Americana Chart and the Country Hotdisc International Chart. The Euro Americana Chart is a monthly chart which pays particular interest to independent artists. The Country Hotdisc International chart is a weekly music singles chart. In recent times, this chart has begun to report more commercial artists, but they still have some room for indies, too. There are many artists that will attest to the fact that their CD sales in Europe run circles around CD sales in the US. If you are interested in getting help with servicing the European music charts, then contact me to discuss the mailing options available within your budget.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The CDs you send to me, should have the barcodes punched out, or not printed on the CD at all, as well as the shrink wrap removed. This is important to do, because the ones sent to radio or press are promo copies. If the barcodes are not destroyed or eliminated, then the CDs could be returned to the distributor, which could get charged back to the label or artist. Since the promo CDs were given out for free, we do not want these CDs to cost you money, should they be returned to the distributor.

My services are already WAY below other publicists because I work with indies on limited budgets. With this in mind, I ask that CDs (for mailing out to press or radio) must be sent to me with the shrink wrap removed, and barcodes properly punched or destroyed. If you choose to send them to me without this done, there will be an extra charge of $2/CD for me to process your CDs (i.e. 50 CDs processed = $100 extra)
