Mark Mooney
The Beginning of Again
Independent singer-songwriter Mark Mooney will release "The Beginning of Again" CD to U.S. radio in the spring of 2008. Grammy nominated Norton Buffalo (Steve Miller, Bonnie Raitt, Doobie Brothers, Johnny Cash), is widely acclaimed as the finest multi-genre harmonica player of our time, and adds his licks to the song, "Home". Along with Buffalo, a virtual who's who in CA have performed on this album, including Dave Roda (percussion/vocals), Will Shanks (bass/keyboards), Mason Hicks (guitar), Mariana Nenadic (vocals), Chris Weinress (bass), Mary Kay Wilkinson (mandolin/violin), Jack Pearson (banjo/mouth harp), & David Berners (percussion). The album was just released to Europe, and has been well received by radio and press. It started with a dream. A dream of doing the things he loved: writing and performing music. On his second CD, "The Beginning of Again", Mooney is doing just that. He expanded upon his unique style by incorporating folk/new age/baroque pop sounds that people first glimpsed on his 2005 album, "First Time Around" (ZenpoArts Records). Mooney's timbre can recall Cat Stevens and Glenn Yarbrough while simultaneously evoking Pete Townsend. Lyrical imagery runs through each track as Mooney sings of love, loss and redemption in the modern world. His eclectic sound transcends time, appealing to both younger and older audiences alike. There has been a time when an artist had to be in their early 20's to get an audience to come out to see them or to buy their albums. However, with the recent success of the Rolling Stones' tour, and with Taylor Hicks winning American Idol, it seems that mature performers are proving that they have what it takes to draw a crowd. If music is now going to be recognized by the quality and energy of the artist, and not by the age of the performer, then Mark Mooney is sure to shine. Even though it took nearly 40 years for his dream to come true, Mooney still has plenty of time to share it with us. "The dream is now a reality, with a voice you need to hear!" “I am so happy to say, the Mooney CD is full of good songs. It fits in really well with the music I play at KFOG, and it is local. That is a great combination! Can't wait to see it live!” Mooney will be touring across the US and Europe with his band to promote the release of "The Beginning of Again". Venue and festival schedules will be posted on his website. "The Beginning of Again" CD is available at digital retail stores worldwide: CD Baby, iTunes, Yahoo Music, Best Buy, Rhapsody, MSN Music, and DigStation. |
