Beneath Southland Skies

MIKE BROSNAN HIT THE U.S. FOR AMERICANA RENEGADES SHOW DURING AMA WEEK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 16, 2007

Germany/New Zealand/U.S.A.: For those at the Americana Music Association (AMA) conference earlier this month, you couldn’t help but get knocked out by the stellar talent playing throughout Nashville. Mike Brosnan traveled over 10,000 miles to perform at the Americana Renegades show at Douglas Corner. He took a break from his European tour to play along with the likes of Buddy Miller, Michael Kelsh, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, Scott Lindsey, Jason Eady and many more smokin’ hot artists.

An expatriate New Zealander of Irish heritage (currently living in Germany), Mike Brosnan is a true craftsman of song, a powerful and emotive singer, as well as an exceptional guitarist. His latest CD, “Beneath Southland Skies” was released to Americana and Triple A radio* in September 2007. The CD has been garnering attention from stations across the U.S., and Brosnan is thankful for the support of indie music like his. Listen to his AMA conference interview with Larry Timko of WIKX-FM (Clear Channel - FL) at this link: http://larryt989.blogspot.com/

“With ‘Beneath Southland Skies’ Brosnan remains as we know him: rootsy, honest and a storyteller who is able to use his unembellished mixture of Folk, Blues, Country and Rock to achieve his musical needs.”
–Album review excerpt from Alternative Nation, Germany

“Brosnan is clearly influenced by Ry Cooder’s techniques, while adding much of his own individual approach . . . He was one of the most popular artists at the festival.”
–Concert review from Blueprint, UK

Brosnan developed his unique style drawing from such diverse influences as rock, folk, blues, Celtic and country. The recent surge of worldwide interest in Roots/Americana music has thrust Brosnan into the limelight around the globe. At the 2006 German Rock & Pop Music Awards, Brosnan took home three significant awards: Best Male R&B Vocalist, Best Male Folk-Rock Vocalist, and Best Male Country Vocalist. This year, Brosnan is on the slate again for four major nominations in: Best Country Song (“Dave Said”), Best Studio Production, Best Folk-Rock Band, and Best Male Folk-Rock Vocalist. Since the Americana or Roots categories do not exist in Germany, it should be no surprise that Mike has been nominated or won awards for each genre of music in the Americana or Roots formats as defined here in the U.S.

Mike will be returning to the U.S. next year to complete his radio tour for “Beneath Southland Skies”. Brosnan will also showcase in San Antonio, TX during the Roots Music Association conference from June 27-29, 2008. This tremendously talented, yet humble artist expresses his heartfelt gratitude to those in radio and press who have covered his new CD. Brosnan has returned to Europe to complete his tour, and loves to perform for audiences all over the world, no matter how grueling the travel can be. He jokes, “If I ever die of a heart attack, I hope it will be from playing my guitar too loud!”
